The Prom

 —  —

The Phoenix Theatre Company, 1825 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ

When Emma wants to take her girlfriend to the prom, the PTA cancels the dance and her story goes viral on social media. Little does she know, four faded and eccentric Broadway performers are on their way to transform her small town of Indiana and throw her the prom of her dreams – albeit in an attempt to improve their own PR. What begins as selfish insincerity results in a fabulous story of growth and a whole lot of zazz! You will cheer for love with these over-the-top, fun characters in this hilarious musical comedy that entertains with show stopping dance and Broadway spectacle. Starring Rusty Ferracane as Barry Glickman!

The Evolution of Dar

 —  —

The Phoenix Theatre Company, 1825 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ

A reading of the play "The Evolution of Dar", written by Rusty Ferracane on Friday, 4/7/23 and Saturday, 4/8/23. The play takes place over a five-year span in the early 1970’s. Set to the soundtrack of selected top 40 hits from the era, the play follows a young boy named Dar, from nine years old to fourteen years old. He is raised by his alcoholic mother who is desperately lonely and insecure. Her two turbulent marriages are unbearable for Dar, as well as the endless bullying he endures at school. One way he copes with the torture of emotional and physical abuse is by escaping into a fantasy world of popular television variety shows. A story about how pain and suffering can often provide us with the courage to overcome adversity.

This is a reading of a play I wrote called "4 Old Naked Guys Sitting Around Talking." This will be a reading only, not a full production, so the actors will have scripts in hand, no sets or costumes, just a "reading" of the play. If you are interested in the process of how a play is developed, I'd love for you to come out and hear the reading and provide feedback at the talkback if you'd care to. The reading is being held at Desert Stages in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall on Friday, February 24 at 7:00pm. Click on the link to register for your spot (there is no charge) at the Southwest Dramatist Guild's website. You do not have to be a member to get a ticket, but you do need to register for a spot.
